MTTI is a technical school located in RI near the MA border, providing hands-on skills training as a quick and economical alternative to college.

Graduates are trained to work supporting PCs and networks for a variety of employers, in both hands-on and help desk environments. Successfully placed  graduates will keep their personal computer built during the program.

Ø PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Through a combination of classroom and hands-on training, students will be trained as entry level Computer Service Technicians and Network Installers. Graduates will be capable of repairing and servicing computer systems and will gain skills including:

  • PC Assembly, Configuration and Management
  • PC System Troubleshooting
  • Computer Network Setup and Administration

Ø AREAS OF CONCENTRATION

  • Introduction to the Industry
  • PC Components & PC Assembly
  • Installing, Configuring and Managing Windows XP/2003/2000/ME/NT/98 and DOS
  • Installation, Configuration and Troubleshooting of: Hard Drives, Floppy Drives, IDE, SATA, SCSI, Optical Media, Motherboards, Memory, Modems, Sound Cards, Cables, Connectors, Display Adapters, Monitors and Printers
  • Installation, configuration and use of Windows applications, including MS Office
  • PC Upgrades and Maintenance
  • Security, including Anti-virus, Anti-spyware and Firewalls
  • Troubleshooting Methods and Resources
  • Customer Service Fundamentals
  • Introduction to Networking and Data Communications: LAN's, WAN's, Wireless Networking,  Switches, Routers, Modems and the Internet
  • Understanding Network Basics: Network Types, Topologies, Media Types, the OSI Model and Network Protocols
  • Peer to Peer Networking: NIC Installation, NOS Configuration and CAT 5 Cables.
  • Installing and Configuring Clients and Servers, Managing the Networked Environment and Using System Utilities with Windows 2003 and Windows 2000.
  • Intranets and TCP/IP Networking Including DHCP and DNS
  • Introduction to Linux
  • Job Search, Resume and Work Internship.
  • A+ Service Technician Certification Preparation
