MTTI Education for Employment

Rudy Gonzalez

Building & Property Trades Technician program

Rudy Gonzalez was unemployed for about two months before coming to MTTI. He was looking for janitorial positions, but all the jobs required more knowledge.

He told the unemployment counselors, “I can’t get job, because they don’t want a strict janitor. They want a Jack-of-all-trades - someone who can do drywall, painting, electrical.”

Gonzalez says the Building and Property Trades course teaches everything someone needs to get an entry-level position. “The class is very informative. You get quite a bit of information in a short span of time.”

The instructors are also very helpful, Gonzalez said. He called them “outstanding.” “They answered all your questions,” he said. “What I learned there, I’m applying in my job.”

Gonzalez said if he has a question where he works at Oxbow Farms Apartments in Middletown, RI, often all he has to do is consult his notebook from the class.

“The class gives you a very solid foundation to work with. I don’t think I would have this job without MTTI.”
